Mumbai's Elephanta Caves

The Elephanta Caves are sculpted caves situated on Elephanta Island located in Mumbai Harbour approx. 10 Kms east  of Mumbai in the indian state of Maharastra.
The cave are rock cut dated between 5 th and 8th centuries,the caves are cut from solid rocks, the caves were renovated in 1970s and was designated a UNESCO World heritage Site in 1987.The cave is called the Shiva cave is 27 mtrs square in a hall. It is ideal place to get away from the the busy Mumbai.When you arrive at the Elephanta Island a lots of local will be offering you to be your guide around the place. often they will try to take more money than justified rather you can buy books on history of the place from the vendors and also remember to bargain.
There is a charge of Rs.10 for adults and Rs5 for Kids.At the entrance of the park, you have to pay an entrance fee of Rs.10 for Indian citizens and Rs. 250 for foreign nationals.


How to get There:
To get to Elephanta Caves, you will need to go to the Gateway of India in the Mumbai city. From Here, get the tickets for the boat or ferry. It will take one hour to reach the island by sea. The tickets are available at the entrance of gateway.The caves are off-visit on Mondays.

Trafalgar Square

Trafalgar Square
Trafalgar square , at the heart of London is one of the city's most vibrant open spots. It is a landmark in central London enjoyed by Londoners and all visitors.

from 14th century the area was used by courtyard of the great mews stabling which served Whitehall palace. In early 18th century Mews area was cleared, in 1812 architect John Nash set about developing a new street from charing cross to portland street forming a square to be used for public events. In 1830 the space was officially named as Trafalgar Square.
In 1832 the work for the famous National Gallery began.In 1843 Nelson's column was erected.

The Trafalgar square has a cafe, two fountains,4 Bronze Lions Placed on guard at the base of the Nelson Column.

Getting to Trafalgar Square :-


The Tube

Charing Cross (Bakerloo and Northern lines) is the closest Tube station, with an entrance/exit on Trafalgar Square.
The following stations are within a few minutes' walk:
Leicester Square (Northern and Piccadilly lines)
Piccadilly Circus (Bakerloo and Piccadilly lines)
Embankment (Bakerloo, Northern, District and Circle lines)

Mainline train

Charing Cross mainline rail station is about a three minute walk from the Square.

Buses

Routes 3, 6, 9, 11, 12, 13, 15, 23, 24, 53, 77A, 88, 91, 139, 159, 176, 453 go past Trafalgar Square. Also routes 22 and 94 terminate nearby at Piccadilly Circus. Many of London's night buses serve Trafalgar Square. The following routes start/end near the square: 53, N2, N5, N18, N20, N21, N26, N29, N41, N47, N50, N89, N91, N97, N279, and N381, and these routes go past the square: 6, 12, 23, 24, 88, 139, 176, 453, N3, N9, N11, N13, N15, N36, N44, N52, N77, N155, N159, N343.

MOUNT ABU -The hill station of rajasthan

Mount Abu situated at a average height of 1,219 mtrs above sea level is the oasis in the deserted land of Rajasthan and posses the honor of being the only hill-station in Rajasthan as well as north-west India.


Situated within lush green forested hills on the highest peak in the Aravali range is also the summer capital for the Indian state of Rajasthan, home to lakes, waterfalls and green forests, the hill retreat, has a very cool and soothing climate thanks to its rich flora covering the entire hillside that includes coniferous trees and flowering shrubs. Mount Abu with its word-class tourist facilities with hotels ranging from budget class to three star and heritage provides a great holiday escape and honeymoon attraction.

LONDON'S TOWER BRIDGE




It is close to Tower of london situated over river Thames, has become an attraction of London. The bridge consists of two towers which are joined together at the upper level by means of two horizontal walkways. The operating machinery for opening the bridge in the center is based in the base of the towers.
The Tower bridge is sometimes mistakenly referred as London bridge, which is the next bridge upstream river Thames.
The bridge was officially opened on 30 june 1894 by the prince of wales Edward VII and his wife.


Raising of bridge: The bridge is not raised for visitors but is only raised when a commercial need arises, like a ship has to pass the river.

London Eye



The London Eye, previously, known as the Millennium Wheel, was constructed in celebration of the new millennium and has become one of London’s most famous landmarks.The wheel carries 32 sealed and air conditioned capsule, each representing boroughs, each capsule weighs 10 tonnes and carries 25 people The London eye was formally opened by then prime minister Mr. Tony Blair, but it was not opened to public due to some technical problem,  unt.il 9 march 2000.

London Aquarium

The Sealife London Aquarium is located on the ground floor of county hall on the south bank of River Thames, near London Eye. it was first opened in March 1997, and since is one of the prime tourist attraction, has largest collection of aquatic species.









In April 2008 the aquarium was purchased by Merlin entertainments and was officially became Sea Life Center in April 2009.
